Educational Philosophy

A play-based childcare and preschool program.
  • Educational Philosophy

Golden Gate Learning Center is a weekday child care and preschool program designed to support and nurture families with young children. Our goal is to provide preschool experiences that encourage each child’s social, emotional, physical, intellectual and creative development.

Golden Gate Learning Center is a play-based or child centered preschool program where play is the central activity of our program. Playful learning is a whole-child approach to education that includes both free play and guided play. Guided play refers to play in a structured environment around a general curricular goal that is designed to stimulate our student’s natural curiosity, exploration, and play with learning-oriented materials.

Through our guided play, learning remains child-directed.  This methodology supports the way children learn about themselves and the world around them. Each of our classrooms are divided into sections, such as a home or kitchen, science area, water table, reading nook, blocks and other toys, or other areas.

Through play, our students begin to master fundamental skills and concepts needed for later school experiences and lifelong learning.  Our teachers work to develop each child’s self-confidence and trust and encourage students to play while facilitating social, emotional, intellectual, physical and creative skills, and providing the tools and space to explore at his or her own developmental level.

At Golden Gate Learning Center, we provide a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment where children can interact with a variety of materials and ideas and blossom.
